31 Days, 31 Costumes: YEAR ONE

When my youngest daughter was born, I was thrilled and tried to soak up every opportunity with her....especially for that first year.  I wanted to make each "first" as good as I possibly could.  When she was a few months old, Halloween started approaching us.  I had to figure out what her very first costume would be.  Eek.  I felt a lot of pressure.  I needed it to be precious and perfect and comfortable and funny.  No big deal.  So, as I started searching through patterns at the craft store, I had an idea.....what if I dress her up EVERY DAY OF THE MONTH.  That way, the small panic attack that I was having would subside.  So, there is you have it.  The reason I started this crazy routine that me, my family, and my friends all look forward to in the month of October.  Here is her first year!

I need to add a couple of things before you start hating me for being a ridiculous, wasteful, overspending mom.  My daily budget for each costume (except for the costume she actually wears trick-or-treating) is $1!  Yep, that's right.  I bargain shop, I ask for deals, I shop off season and hit up all the thrift stores and garage sales I can find.  Now that I've been doing this for four years, my friends know about it and offer me their old costumes and keep and other dress up tidbits.  So, there.  You can't hate me now. :)
